compressor optimization monitoring system

Monitoring the field data of compressor packages and comparing that to theoretical predictions can identify operating and performance issues. The increase in production through the monitoring of such data to encourage equipment optimization should easily finance the effort required to maintain such a system.

PEPR performs dynamic calculations using log data to report the following ranked key performance indicators (KPI’s).

  • Power utilization (%)
  • Excess engine power available
  • Compressor cylinder clearance utilization (% HE and CE unloaded)
  • Rod load utilization (%)
  • Cylinder discharge temperature deviation from theoretical value (%)
  • Inter-stage pressure deviation from theoretical value (%)
  • Suction control valve position (% open)
  • Recycle valve position (% open)

The KPI's are displayed on the screen in a tabular fashion with the names of the compressor locations forming the first column. The KPI’s compressor units are sorted and the list is ranked with the best opportunity for enhanced production at the top the list. A white background color indicates the parameter is within the specified operating range. Opportunities are flagged with a green background color. Warnings are flagged with notes and a red background color. Gas limited units, those on standby or idle assets can be excluded from the ranking. PEPR evaluates the performance of reciprocating and screw compressors.

Incremental production is achieved by maximizing utilization with continuous monitoring of production performance. Log data is input electronically or manually via a regular and automated routine. PEPR does the rest of the work automatically. Performance is estimated using an industry-standard program for reciprocating compressors and a performance matrix, specifically developed, for screw compressors.

Our objective is to provide and implement an electronic database system for monitoring and evaluating compression equipment. Field and theoretical data will be employed to monitor the performance of the fleet and report on the same. Reporting is done on the basis of each machine, each production area and the entire fleet. PEPR Inc will primarily define the data requirements, means for comparison and reporting desired. We will provide our detailed knowledge of the equipment to the expertise of your IS staff and production resources (field and office) to produce a system that achieves these objectives.
